Club Runs

Saturday C RIDES are steady and for people wanting to try out the club and their own ability. We welcome all riders and ride at the slowest rider's pace. Distance tends to be between 30 and 40 miles and we try and incorporate a café stop if possible. 


Sunday long and short runs

Club Runs depart from outside the Freedom Travel Agents (the old bikeshop) in Uppermill every Sunday.  Runs leave Uppermill at 9am sharp.  


A RIDES are the long ones and cover between 50 and 90 miles. They always involve a 'café stop' and we follow the moto of never leaving a rider behind.  The calendar has details for each ride.


B RIDES are shorter and a bit quicker. They cover roughly 30 miles and do not stop at a cafe but usually begin with a coffee at Java Bar on Uppermill High Street.

During the summer months there is a Wednesday Evening Club Run that departs the Cyclery at 7pm.


These usually cover between 25 and 35 miles and finish up at the same pub as the mountain bikers if you fancy a pint.

What do I need?

Well a bike (preferably a road bike) in good working order, some food and drink, basic tool kit, a pump, spare innertubes and a puncture repair kit.


In winter lights, mudguards, a waterproof and extra warm clothing are a good idea.


Most cafes that we go to will provide a snack, such as beans on toast, and a tea or coffee for less than £5.

How fit do I need to be

Because of the hilly nature of our local area our rides are not necessarily suitable for those who are new to cycling or occasional leisure cyclists. But if you are regularly riding at least 30 miles in about 2.5 hours and are looking to develop your abilities in the company of others, our shorter rides would be an ideal and welcoming place to start.
